How is Lockheed Martin turning 5G towers into drone radar?

The system uses the radio environment created by communications infrastructure and AI analysis to look for disturbances associated with a drone, rather than relying only on a dedicated rotating radar. Reusing widespread 5G equipment could expand coverage and reduce new hardware, but detection is not identification: birds, clutter, weather, and lawful aircraft still have to be separated. The meaningful test is independently measured range and false-alarm performance in real sites.
