Can your security system spot something unusual while you're away?
ADT's new alerts learn normal sensor patterns and flag deviations without using video or audio. Give the system two weeks to learn, then review early alerts.
ADT added Unusual Activity Alerts to ADT+ at no extra cost for eligible customers with a V5 or newer Base. Instead of relying on a fixed rule such as “alert every time this door opens,” it learns the household’s normal rhythm from door and window sensors, locks, garage controllers, and Z-Wave lights. A door left open much longer than usual can then trigger a phone notification naming the event.
The feature uses device and sensor signals—not video, audio, or camera clips—and needs at least 14 days of activity to learn, using no more than 60 days of history. Pattern-based alerts can reduce noise because they focus on deviations from your routine. Enroll, live normally for two weeks, and review the first alerts to understand what it considers unusual.
You can turn the feature off, and ADT says it does not replace life-safety monitoring.
