How is AI learning to steer a miniature star?

A fusion plasma behaves like a hot, unstable fluid, and small changes in magnets or fuel can cascade faster than simple rules handle. Machine-learning control can study sensor data, predict the plasma’s next move, and adjust controls in real time—but it does not solve the materials, fuel-cycle, maintenance, or economics challenges by itself. Bright X-ray results and better control are research milestones, not evidence that commercial fusion power is already here.
