What should I double-check before sending crypto to a new wallet address?
Verify the network and address on a second screen, send a tiny test first, and check for address-poisoning before committing the full amount.
Crypto transfers are usually irreversible, so slow down before the final tap. Confirm that the sending and receiving wallets use the same network—an Ethereum address does not guarantee that every token route is compatible. Compare the first and last six characters of the destination on a second screen or with the recipient, not only in your clipboard.
Then send the smallest practical test amount and wait for the required confirmations before sending the balance. Address-poisoning scams place a lookalike address in your history, so never choose a destination just because it resembles a recent one. Check fees, memo or destination-tag requirements, and the exchange’s minimum deposit.
For a large transfer, use an address allowlist and pause after any last-minute change.
