What is agentic AI in Google Gemini, and when do I actually get it?
Gemini's agentic features can take multi-step actions; businesses get them first, and users should limit permissions and require approval.
“Agentic” means Gemini can plan and carry out a chain of steps—such as gathering information, preparing a document, and coordinating follow-up work—instead of stopping after an answer. Google announced the first rollout for business customers on Oct. 8, so everyday Gemini users should watch for a later consumer release rather than assume it is already in every account.
When it arrives, start with reversible work: ask the agent to draft, organize, or propose actions, then require approval before anything is sent, deleted, purchased, or shared. Review every connected app and remove access the task does not need. The useful question is not only “Can it do this?” but “What can it read, what can it change, and where is the activity log?”
