How can one cart hold gifts from different stores, watch prices for you, and still check out safely?
Google's Universal Cart, rolling out in U.S. Search and the Gemini app, saves products from many retailers in one cart, watches prices, surfaces promo codes and card perks, and checks out with Google Pay — while each store stays the seller for charges, shipping and returns.
You have 14 tabs open, three screenshots in a folder, and a gift list in your head — and you still cannot remember which store had the cheaper headphones. Short answer: Google’s new Universal Cart can hold them all. Rolling out in the U.S. in Google Search and the Gemini app since October 15, 2026, it lets you save products from many different retailers into one cart, get price-drop and back-in-stock alerts, see promo codes and card-perk suggestions, and check out with Google Pay at participating stores — or transfer the items to the merchant’s own cart to finish there.
The retailer stays the seller of record, so confirmations and support still come from the store you bought from. Why it works: the cart is built on Google’s Shopping Graph — more than 60 billion product listings, refreshed as prices and stock change — and on Google Wallet, which already holds your saved cards. That is how it can watch prices in the background while you get on with your day, and suggest which saved card earns the best perk on a given purchase.
Building a gift list? Our best tech gifts picks and buyer guides can help you decide what deserves a spot in the cart.1. Start in Search or Gemini.
Search for a gift in Google Search — including AI Mode — or in the Gemini app, and save it to the cart.2. Add other stores the same way. Items from different retailers all land in the same cart, no matter who sells them.3.
Turn on notifications. Price drops and restocks come to you, instead of you re-checking every tab.4. Check codes and card perks before buying.
The cart shows available promo codes and hints at which saved card earns the best perk on that purchase.5. Check out your way. Pay with Google Pay inside the cart where it is offered, or send the items to the store’s own cart to finish there.Common mistake: Assuming one cart means one combined payment and one return policy.
It does not — each store still charges you, ships to you, and handles its own returns separately.Ad’s take: I love anything that kills the screenshot-folder method of shopping. Just do not let the price alerts talk you into buying something you were happily not buying yesterday.
